Hotspot sets Endian apart from other Unified Threat Management Systems

Wireless Hotspot example:

Schools are proving very interested in hotspots as students are increasingly wishing to bring their personal laptops to school for study purposes. With the Endian devices, schools have the assurance that students are not abusing this privilege, by controlling and managing when they can use the Internet, what sites they can and cannot access and the duration they can use the Internet. All of this is done through username and password authentication, which is simple and easy for the school to manage through the hotspot control panel. The Endian recognises users according to the username and password and applies necessary restrictions.

Wired Hotspot example:

Local councils are increasingly becoming interested in hotspots, particularly for use in public libraries that offer computer terminals with Internet access.  The Endian allows council to manage and control the Internet usage in a safe and controlled environment. Users are required to book and pay for the required time they would like to use the Internet and they are provided with a username and password that the Endian will recognise. The Endian will control when the users time is out and will block access beyond this time. It also allows council to set restrictions on what sites can be accessed and what time the Internet can be accessed.

As can be seen from the examples above the Endian provides an authentication process whereby the Endian clients have control over who has access and each customer’s duration of access. To take it one step further the Endian also has content filtering and anti-spam filtering

Unlike other stand alone hotspot devices the Endian is built in with both of these integral features and will prevent large amounts of stress and problems associated with free range access to the internet. These features allow Endian clients control the time of day the Internet can be used by customers and what sites customers can and cannot access. This feature can be applied to all users or it can be categorised allowing administrators to have full access and customers restricted access only.

Livio Mazzon believes that this is an integral feature for all businesses and is now the most popular feature of the Endian.
With Internet proving such a powerful tool these days it is critical for businesses to manage their users and ensure they are not abusing their access.  UTMs now do an excellent job of controlling user access, but this tends to be targeted towards permanently based Internet users.  A hotspot solution like this combines the best-of-breed features of a secure UTM and a hotspot management system into one unit.  Now hotspot environments like cafe's, libraries, time-share offices, schools and waiting areas can provide the same benefits to mobile or itinerant users’ stated Mr Mazzon.

As a European product that is quite new to the Australian market it is important to note that Europeans are purchasing the Endian primarily for the unique secure hotspot that it features. Veritech Corporation in regional NSW, Australia is providing customers across Australia and New Zealand with this same opportunity, as the distributor of the Endian UTM systems to the region.

Businesses interested in setting up a hotspot using this robust all in one device are encouraged to sample the Endian UTM system by using the online demonstration at www.veritechcorp.com.au and can purchase the product today through their preferred IT consultant or reseller.
