Training and Development is not only a means of optimising the use of human resources and developing and maintaining a healthy working environment, it is the key to ensuring organisational goals and objectives are successfully attained. Veritech Corporation, a regional IT company based in Griffith NSW, is avid about staff training and development. A number of Veritech staff have been dispatched to training in Italy in the specialised field of Endian UTM (Unified Threat Management) systems.
Veritech Network Consultant, Michael Sartor, this year attended personalised training in Italy with Endian, whilst in previous years training in Italy was provided to Veritech Consultants Philip Van Veen and Livio Mazzon. This training is in addition to in-house Endian and UTM training conducted by the Veritech office in Australia.
This Endian training is provided by core members of the Endian team; engineers who deal with Endian support and development on a day-to-day basis. Not just outsourced trainers, these Endian engineers intimately understand the inner workings of the product, they constitute the centre of knowledge for the Endian systems. The training agenda covers a wide scope including troubleshooting techniques, basic and advanced configurations, network integration scenarios, support mechanisms through the Endian Network (a support portal), common questions and problems, and inner workings of the system.
Endian SrL, an Italian technology company, has both of its headquarters based in northern Italy, one in Bolzano and another in Milan. The Milan office is based in the bustling fashion capital of the world, whose industrious landscape is characteristic to Endian’s functions at that site; global third level support, logistics and operations.
The Bolzano office however is geographically close to the Italian/Austrian border - in a zone which belonged to Austria before the Great War. Nestled along the beautiful mountainside, and with vistas of apple groves and meandering vineyards, the Bolzano office is inspirational and striking. The Endian staff here are responsible for new development, engineering, quality assurance and strategic direction. Both of the offices have their own training facilities which are used to train resellers and distributors from across the globe, including Veritech.
Mr Sartor’s recent training was at the Endian office in Milan, and was conducted by Endian engineer Luca Giovenzana. The course was customised specially for Sartor, who was already quite experienced with Endian systems installation and management. The advanced instruction was broken up into two parts, configuration and settings, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. During the visit, Sartor also had the opportunity for some face to face networking with the Milan staff and management.
Mr Sartor commented on the importance of first-level Endian training to Veritech and its clients. ‘Training with Endian in Italy was a fantastic opportunity for me to learn about the product we support. It will also benefit our clients through reduced delays in troubleshooting; the best support can be local; Australia to Italy can have problems from the time zones.’ commented Mr Sartor.
He also believes that this training is important to the developers of the technology. ‘The training is also good for Endian as it reduces their workload and they can be confident by the fact that they have capable and trained support in Australia. Anything that needs to be resolved at a design or engineering level would be passed on to Endian, however, most support issues can be handled by us locally’ noted Mr Sartor.
Endian trainer Luca Giovenzana guided Sartor in this recent training course in Milan. ‘It's great to see our distributors are taking such interest and effort in being trained properly in the use of our products. It means the customers in Australia will receive much better levels of support from Veritech.And there is no better Endian training available than from Endian directly!’ said Mr Giovenzana.
